- graduates below the age of 30 who want to complete a teaching qualification or enrol for a PGCE;
- people below the age of 30 who want to make a career change and become teachers; and.
- unemployed people below the age of 30 who want to become teachers.
How much does funza Lushaka pay per month?
Funza Lushaka Allowance Amount 2023
An amount of R 1,308,024,000 is allocated by the National Treasury for the Funza Lushaka Bursary and out of which R600 per month is given to cover living expenses. NSFAS has been giving the funds on behalf of the Funza Lushaka department since 2007.
Is Funza Lushaka open for 2024 applications?
The Department has announced that applications for Funza Lushaka Bursaries for the 2024 academic year will open on 1 October 2023. There are however a limited number of bursaries available and you should therefore apply as soon as applications open. Applicants are encouraged to apply for a NSFAS bursary as well.
Which courses does Funza Lushaka fund?
Funza Lushaka offers bursaries to students for a four-year Bachelor of Education degree (BEd), specialising in either Foundation Phase (Grade R – 3), Intermediate Phase (Grade 4 – 6) or Senior and Further Education and Training Teaching (Grade 7-12).
