“Badplaas (MP) Near Buffelspruit: Although the name could be a mix-up of the English ‘bad’ (as in misbehaving) and the Afrikaans plaas (‘farm’), the name is all Afrikaans. The Dutch/Afrikaans word bad means ‘to bathe’ (or an actual bath). The original Sotho name was Emanzana, meaning ‘Healing Waters’.
