How To Change SRD Contact Details
This section contains the information you need on how to change SRD contact details for your SASSA relief grant application and payments.
To change your SRD contact details (such as your cellphone number or email address), you can follow these methods:[1]
- Visit the SASSA SRD contact details page.
- Enter your ID number (no spaces required).
- Enter your Application ID. If you do not have this, retrieve it by visiting the SASSA SRD grant status check page and entering your ID number and old cellphone number. Your Application ID will appear in the first line.[1]
- Click “Submit” and then enter your new cellphone number and/or email address.
- Click “Submit” again and select the reason for changing your contact details (e.g., lost/stolen phone, used someone else’s number, etc.).[1]
- You will receive an OTP (One-Time Pin) on your new cellphone number. Enter the OTP to confirm.
- Click “Submit” to finalize the update. Your details will then be changed.[1]
If you do not have your Application ID, retrieve it as follows:[1]
- Visit the SASSA SRD grant status check page.
- Enter your South African ID number and the old cellphone number used during application.
- Your Application ID will be shown on the first line.
If you cannot use the online option or experience issues:
- Call the SASSA toll-free hotline: 0800 60 10 11.[2][4][5][7]
- Alternatively, email SASSA at grantenquiries@sassa.gov.za with your ID number and request to change your contact details.[2][5][7]
- If online and telephone options do not produce results, you can also visit your nearest SASSA office in person. This may be required for identity verification and is considered the safest method, especially after recent enhancements to security measures (such as biometric verification).[3][4]
Biometric verification may now be required for some changes to protect against fraud. After contacting SASSA by phone and passing security questions, you may receive a unique link via SMS to complete a biometric process within 24-48 hours.[4]
Regularly updating your SRD contact details is essential for receiving notifications and grant payments securely. Delays or issues can occur if your contact details are not current or verified.[2][4]
