TETA is the Transport Education Training Authority, the SETA for the transport sector. It runs five offices and publishes a direct number for each, so the useful first step is picking the right one rather than dialling the head office and waiting to be transferred.

The individual office mailboxes on the TETA site are hidden behind a spam-protection script and do not display without JavaScript, which is why only the general address is listed here. Each office page also carries a feedback form, which is the practical route if you cannot get through by telephone.
Say which chamber you need
TETA is organised into chambers by sub-sector, and the chamber decides who handles your query. It runs Aerospace, Maritime, Forwarding and Clearing, Rail, Freight Handling, Road Freight, Road Passenger and Taxi. Naming yours in the first sentence is the single thing that shortens a TETA call most.
What TETA actually administers
- Learnerships, apprenticeships and unemployed bursaries
- Mandatory grants and discretionary grants for levy-paying employers
- Accreditation of training providers, workplace approvals, and assessor and moderator registration
- Recognition of prior learning, trade test applications and logbooks
- Tenders, published as current, received and awarded on its own site
If you are an employer, the grant deadlines are the thing to diarise: a missed workplace skills plan submission forfeits the mandatory grant for that year and no office can reinstate it after the fact. If you are a training provider, accreditation status is verifiable through the ETQA search on the TETA site, and it is worth checking before you pay anyone for a course.
TETA is a public entity, and that matters
It was established under the Skills Development Act 97 of 1998, reports to the Minister of Higher Education and Training and answers to National Treasury for financial administration. So its services are not sold to you by an agent. Nobody legitimate charges a fee to register you for a TETA learnership or to secure a bursary, and any offer to do so should go to the fraud hotline rather than to your bank account.

The hotline is run independently of TETA and takes anonymous reports, which is the point of it. Use it for a fake learnership, a demand for payment, or misconduct in a grant or tender process.
