How to Change on Capitec App Contact Details
All Banking & Finance contactsComplaints & escalation
Most changes on the Capitec app are made inside the app itself, and the ones that are not are held back on purpose. When the app will not let you change something, that is usually a security control rather than a fault, and the number below is how you get past it.
Capitec contact details
- Personal banking Client Care Centre, 24 hours: 0860 10 20 43
- Business banking: 0860 30 92 50
- WhatsApp: 067 418 9565
- From outside South Africa: +27 21 440 3580
The Client Care Centre runs 24 hours, which matters because the changes people most urgently need to make, blocking a card or stopping a payment, do not happen during office hours.
What you can change yourself in the app
Day-to-day settings sit in the app and need nothing more than your Remote PIN: your card limits for swiping, online purchases and ATM withdrawals, your daily transfer and payment limits, beneficiaries, debit order views, notification settings, and your Remote PIN itself. Card limits are the useful one. Setting your online purchase limit to zero until you actually need it removes a whole category of card fraud, and you can raise it again in seconds.
What the app will not let you change on your own
Your cellphone number is the one that catches everyone. It is the anchor of your banking profile, so changing it usually requires you at a branch with your identity document, or at minimum a verification step the app cannot complete by itself. This is deliberate: a SIM swap followed by a self-service number change is precisely how an account gets emptied, and the friction is protecting you.
- Cellphone number changes: expect a branch visit with your green barcoded ID or smart ID card
- Name changes after marriage or a legal name change: branch, with the supporting document
- Adding or changing a bank account holder or signatory: branch
- A new card after loss or theft: block it immediately on the app or by phoning 0860 10 20 43, then arrange the replacement
If the app itself is the problem
Reinstalling the app and signing in again resolves most faults, and your Remote PIN rather than a password is what re-links it. If the app will not verify your device at all, phone the Client Care Centre before trying repeatedly, because repeated failures can lock the profile. Never install a Capitec app from anywhere but the official app store listing.
If you think you have been defrauded
Capitec instruction is specific: report the crime to the SAPS immediately and contact the 24-hour Client Care Centre on 0860 10 20 43. Do both, and do them in that order if you can. Speed matters more than completeness here; you can add detail later.
Capitec will never phone you and ask for your Remote PIN, your card PIN, an OTP or your full card number, and it will never ask you to move money to a safe account. Any caller doing so is not from the bank, whatever the number on your screen says, because caller identity can be spoofed. Hang up and dial 0860 10 20 43 yourself.
If a complaint is not resolved
Capitec publishes a complaints route on its own site and a vulnerability disclosure policy for reporting a security flaw. It is an authorised financial services provider under FSP 46669 and a registered credit provider under NCRCP13. An unresolved banking complaint can be taken free of charge to the National Financial Ombud Scheme.
