Motheo in the Free State usually means Motheo TVET College, the public college with its head office in central Bloemfontein and seven sites across the Mangaung metro and the southern Free State. Two other things carry the name, and they are covered further down.
Official contact channels
- College telephone: 051 406 9300 or 051 406 9301
- Head office: corner St George and Aliwal Streets, Bloemfontein, 9301
- The website address on the departmental register, motheofet.co.za, currently serves a domain parking page rather than the college site. Use the telephone number and the campus addresses
- Write to the office of the principal at the head office address rather than to any personal mailbox

Other things called Motheo
- Motheo District Municipality no longer exists. The area it covered became the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality, so municipal queries go to Mangaung
- Motheo FM is a separate community radio station broadcasting from Heidedal in Bloemfontein, with its own studio number
- Motheo means foundation in Sesotho, which is why several Free State organisations use it. Check which one you want before you dial
- The college is the only one of the three that is a national public institution reporting to the Department of Higher Education and Training
Applying and funding
- Registration and student records are handled per campus, so name your campus when you phone
- NC(V) programmes start with the academic year. Report 191 NATED programmes run on trimesters and semesters, so there is more than one intake
- Funding is through NSFAS, on 0800 067 327 or [email protected]. Apply to NSFAS directly, but the college must confirm your registration before money is released
- The satellite campuses at Zastron and Koffiefontein are small and do not offer the full programme list. Confirm your programme is taught there before you commit to travelling
If the college does not respond
- Escalate to the Department of Higher Education and Training on 0800 872 222 or [email protected]
- Quote the college and the campus. The department oversees 50 colleges and the campus identifies your file
- A bursary dispute follows the NSFAS appeal process and its own deadline, which the college cannot extend
