There are two Middelburg magistrate courts and they are about 800 kilometres apart. Working out which one a matter belongs to is easier from the surrounding courts than from the town name.

Services and responsibilities
The Eastern Cape court sits in the Chris Hani district under Inxuba Yethemba, alongside Cradock, which is also recorded as Nxuba, on 048 881 1378. The Mpumalanga court is the main seat of Nkangala, which contains Siyabuswa on 013 973 1311, KwaMhlanga on 013 947 2363 and Kwaggafontein, also called Mkobola, on 013 986 0131.
Office and address information
The Eastern Cape court is at 40 Loop Street, 5900. The Mpumalanga court is at 16 Dr Beyers Naude Street, 1050. The department adds MP after the Mpumalanga office name to separate them.
Applications and escalation
If the other courts named in your papers are Cradock or Nxuba, you need the Eastern Cape court on 049. If they are Siyabuswa, KwaMhlanga, Mkobola or eMalahleni, you need Mpumalanga on 013. Only the Eastern Cape court publishes an after hours domestic violence number.
