Vuma Call Centre Contact Details

Verified 26 September 2026Official source onlyIndependent directoryReport a wrong number

The Vuma call centre number, also called the Vuma helpline or hotline, is 010 746 8862. Vumatel publishes it as the line for technical assistance and for reporting an outage in your area. It is a network operator’s call centre, not an internet service provider’s help desk, so it handles the fibre infrastructure rather than your account, package or monthly bill. Verified against the official Vumatel website on 18 August 2026 and rechecked on 26 September 2026.

Vumatel’s Code of Conduct defines its business hours as Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00, and Saturday, 09:00 to 13:00, excluding public holidays.

What the call centre is measured on

Vumatel holds licences from the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa, and its published Code of Conduct commits it to service standards you can hold it to. The call centre standard is to respond within three minutes, averaged over twelve months, to any call directed to the Vumatel call centre. On faults, the commitment is to clear an average of 90% of all reported faults within three business days, with the balance within six business days of the fault being reported.

These are averages rather than guarantees for your individual call, but they give you a reasonable benchmark. A fault still open after six business days has passed the published standard, which is a fair thing to raise when you escalate.

Best contact route by issue

  • Call the Vuma call centre for a suspected outage in your area, damage to street infrastructure such as a cut cable, an open trench or a broken box, and technical assistance relating to the line itself.
  • Call your internet service provider instead for your account, your monthly bill, a package upgrade or downgrade, router configuration, and activation of a new service. Vuma’s own contact page directs customers to their service provider for issues they are experiencing.
  • Write rather than call for anything you want formally recorded. A phone call does not start the complaint clock; an email to complaints@vumatel.co.za does.

Vuma helpline and technician number

Vuma’s contact page lists one number, 010 746 8862, for its Customer Care Support team. It is the helpline for technical assistance and for reporting an outage in your area, and it is the number to ask about a technician for a fault on the fibre line. The Vumatel Code of Conduct repeats 010 746 8862 in its footer. For anything else, Vuma says to contact your internet service provider with any issues you are experiencing.

Vuma WhatsApp number and live chat

Vuma publishes no WhatsApp number or live chat on its contact page: it offers only the Customer Care line 010 746 8862 and a pointer to your service provider. Use 010 746 8862 for faults and outages, or your provider’s own chat for account issues. See Vuma WhatsApp contact details for more.

Vuma contact numbers for Soweto, Limpopo, Vereeniging, Phoenix and Newcastle

Vumatel publishes no regional offices or area numbers, including for Soweto, Dube, Limpopo, Vereeniging, Phoenix or Newcastle. The only published line is the national number 010 746 8862 for outages and technical help; account issues go to your service provider.

Vuma through Web Africa, MWEB and other providers: cancellation, passwords and packages

Vuma is the network operator, so cancellations, packages, billing and router or account passwords are handled by your internet service provider, not by Vuma. Vuma sells no packages itself and runs no shop: the packages on its lines come from the service providers. If you are with Web Africa, see Vuma Web Africa contact details. MWEB customers on Vuma fibre can call MWEB Support on 087 700 0777 (Monday to Friday 07:30 to 20:00, weekends and public holidays 08:00 to 18:00) or MWEB Billing on 087 700 2121.

Customer care and self-service options

Check the network status page before dialling. If an outage in your area is already logged, the call centre will tell you the same thing and you will have spent time in a queue to hear it. The Vuma knowledge base covers the difference between the network operator and a service provider, what a CPE and an ONT are, what open access means, and how to get support, which resolves a large share of the questions people phone about.

The coverage checker on vumatel.co.za confirms which product serves your address, either Vuma Fibre Core or Vuma Fibre Reach, and which providers sell on that line. Running a speed test before you call gives the agent something concrete to work from.

Complaints and escalation

  1. Exhaust your service provider first where the matter concerns your account or service, since that is who you contract with.
  2. Send a written complaint to complaints@vumatel.co.za with your full particulars and contact details, your relationship with Vumatel and any reference numbers, your reasons in enough detail to be assessed, and supporting evidence.
  3. Expect acknowledgement within three business days with a reference number, and a written determination within fourteen business days of receipt.

What to prepare before you call

  • Your full service address, since fibre records are tied to the physical address rather than to your name.
  • Your internet service provider and account number, because the agent will often route you back to them.
  • Any reference number from an earlier call, without which your matter is logged as a new report.
  • The lights on your ONT and whether a restart changed anything.
  • Dates: when the fault began and when you first reported it.

Ask for a reference number before the call ends and write it down. Without it, every later conversation restarts from zero.

Scam and verification checks

  • Confirm the number on the official domain. Type vumatel.co.za yourself and check the contact page rather than trusting a number from a search snippet, a directory or a message.
  • Vuma does not call you to ask for payment. Your fibre account is with your service provider, so treat any inbound call demanding immediate payment to keep the line active as suspect and hang up.
  • Never disclose one-time passwords, banking login details, card numbers or your router’s admin password to a caller. A genuine agent does not need them.
  • Call back on a number you sourced yourself if a caller claims to be from Vuma and something feels wrong.
  • Preserve evidence. Note the number, the time and what was said. If money has left your account, tell your bank immediately and report it to the South African Police Service.
