Ladysmith Magistrate Court serves the Uthukela magisterial district in KwaZulu-Natal. The two are confused often enough that the Department of Justice lists them as separate entries.

Official contact channels

The Department of Justice asks that you check its Operational Notices page before travelling or calling, because it publishes there when a court has telephone, power or network problems affecting service delivery.

Services and responsibilities

The Department lists this court as handling:

Ladysmith is also designated an Equality Court, which means it hears complaints under the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act. Not every magistrate court carries that designation, so an equality complaint that would be turned away elsewhere in the district can be lodged here.
