| What you need | Detail |
|---|---|
| Phone | 021 404 1850 |
| Second number | 021 447 1652 |
| Store email | grooteschuur2@retail.spar.co.za |
| Online ordering | The Place an order link on the SPAR store page for Groote Schuur |
| Address | Corner Browning and Main Road, Observatory, Cape Town |
This is a store-level mailbox on the retail.spar.co.za domain rather than a head office address, so it reaches the branch. That is unusual and useful, because most supermarket chains route everything through a national call centre.
The store sits in Observatory, within reach of Groote Schuur Hospital, which is where its name comes from.
SPAR Groote Schuur trading hours
| Day | Hours |
|---|---|
| Monday to Friday | 07:00 to 20:00 |
| Saturday | 07:00 to 20:00 |
| Sunday | 08:00 to 20:00 |
| Public holidays | 08:00 to 20:00 |
| SPAR notes one mid-day closure | Fridays closed between 13:00 and 13:45 |
The Friday closure is the detail worth knowing. The store shuts for 45 minutes in the early afternoon on Fridays only, so a quick Friday lunchtime shop can run into locked doors even though the store is open all day either side of it.
Pharmacy and other things to check before you go
SPAR runs Pharmacy at SPAR counters inside some of its stores, but the brand store page for Groote Schuur does not state whether this branch has one. If you need a dispensary rather than over-the-counter items, phone the store first on 021 404 1850 rather than assuming.
Complaints about the store
The brand is SPAR, and store details for this branch are published on spar.co.za. SPAR stores are independently owned and operated under the SPAR brand, so day to day service is the store operator responsibility. Unresolved consumer complaints go to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud on 0860 000 272, free of charge.
Because the branch publishes its own number and mailbox, start there. A complaint sent to a national address about a specific store almost always comes back asking which store, which costs you a round trip.
