Spotify Contact Details
Spotify has no telephone support, in South Africa or anywhere else. Its own contact page says so plainly: it does not offer support by phone. There is no Spotify call centre, no local South African office number for customers, and no callback service. Any phone number presented to you as Spotify customer support is not Spotify.
The channels that do exist
- Support messaging on support.spotify.com, which routes you to a customer service agent
- The Spotify Community forum at community.spotify.com, which is public and moderated
- Separate help centres for Spotify for Artists, for podcast creators and for audiobook authors
- The support site is available in a South African edition at support.spotify.com/za-en
Support messaging is the only route that reaches an actual agent. It sits behind the help articles, so you generally have to open the relevant article first and then choose to contact support from within it.
Why fake Spotify numbers exist
Because Spotify publishes no number, search results and social media fill the vacuum, and the numbers that appear there belong to people who want your card details. The pattern is consistent: you are told your subscription has a billing problem, asked to confirm your card to fix it, and charged. Spotify will never phone you, will never ask for your card number to resolve a billing issue, and will never ask for a one-time password. Treat any Spotify support number as fraudulent by default.
Billing problems are often not Spotify problems
Where you subscribed determines who can refund you. If you signed up through the Apple App Store or through Google Play, the payment relationship is with Apple or Google, and Spotify cannot reverse the charge; you must request the refund through that store. Only a subscription taken directly on spotify.com is billed by Spotify. Check your bank statement to see which one is charging you before you spend time in the wrong queue.
Common issues and where they go
- Charged after cancelling, or charged twice: check whether the charge is from Apple, Google or Spotify, then approach that party
- Account hacked or logged in from elsewhere: use the hacked account article on the support site, which triggers a password reset and sign-out of all devices
- A family or duo plan member cannot join: this is almost always an address mismatch on the plan, handled in account settings rather than by support
If it is not resolved
- Escalate through the same support messaging thread rather than starting a new one, so the history stays attached
- For an unauthorised debit on a South African card, your bank disputes the transaction, not Spotify
- For a consumer complaint against a supplier trading in South Africa, the National Consumer Commission is the external route
