Hungry Lion is a flame-grilled chicken chain owned by the Shoprite group, run from Stellenbosch rather than from Cape Town or Johannesburg as people often assume. It publishes one national call centre number and a head office address, and nothing at store level.
Hungry Lion contact details
- Call centre: 021 493 2600
- Head office: Trumali House, Trumali Street, Harringtons Place, Stellenbosch, 7600
- Feedback portal: hungrylion.review
No email address is published, and there are no individual store telephone numbers. A complaint about a specific restaurant goes through the call centre or the feedback portal, and both will want the store name and the date and time of the visit.
Use the feedback portal for anything about a meal
The review site is the route the chain itself points customers to, and it is the one that generates a reference against a specific store. Have the till slip in front of you: it carries the store identifier and the transaction number, and without those a complaint about a wrong order or a quality problem cannot be traced to a shift. Photograph the food before you throw it away if that is the issue.
Deliveries are not Hungry Lion
- Orders placed through a delivery app are fulfilled by that app driver, and a late or missing delivery is the app problem to solve first
- A refund on an app order is processed by the app, not by the restaurant or the call centre
- If the food itself was wrong or badly prepared, that part does go back to Hungry Lion through the feedback portal
Franchising and supplier enquiries
Hungry Lion does not publish a separate franchising or procurement line. Both route through the call centre on 021 493 2600 or through written correspondence to the Stellenbosch head office. Because the chain is part of the Shoprite group, supplier onboarding generally follows group procurement processes rather than a restaurant-level arrangement, so expect to be directed there.
If it is not resolved
- Start with the feedback portal or 021 493 2600, and keep the reference you are given
- For a food safety or hygiene concern, the environmental health department of the municipality where the store is located is the regulator
- For an unresolved consumer complaint, the National Consumer Commission handles complaints against suppliers
