Alzu Eggs runs on its own site and its own switchboard, separate from the rest of the Alzu group. The group number that reaches the Middelburg farm office will not take an egg order, and alzueggs.co.za publishes different numbers and different mailboxes for exactly that reason. The two numbers are consecutive lines on the same switchboard, so try the second if the first is engaged rather than waiting. Both are answered by service agents who take orders directly – this is a producer selling by the pallet and the box, not a call centre.

The two mailboxes do different jobs

[email protected] is for placing and chasing an order. [email protected] is the route to the area representative structure, which is where a new retail or wholesale account starts. Sending a new-supplier enquiry to the orders mailbox usually means it gets forwarded and answered a day later.

The area reps are named individuals

Alzu Eggs publishes four representatives by name and personal mobile number, covering Mpumalanga, Gauteng north and west Rand, Gauteng east Rand and North West, and Limpopo with the Mpumalanga lowveld. Those are private numbers attached to people rather than to the business, so they are not repeated here. Write to [email protected], say which of those four areas you are in, and you will be put through to the right one – with the advantage that the introduction is on record.

What Alzu Eggs actually supplies

Two things, not one. The consumer side is free-range table eggs in Medium, Large, Extra Large, Jumbo and Super Jumbo, in pack sizes from 6 to 60, graded on Moba Omnia equipment and produced to SANS 10049:2019. The second business is point-of-lay hens, reared and sold to other producers – Alzu is one of the few operations doing both. The farm was started in 1968 by Gerrie du Toit and is still run by the du Toit family.

Before you place a first order

Say whether you want table eggs or point-of-lay birds at the start. They are handled by different parts of the business.
Egg pricing moves with the market and with size. Ask for the price per size, not a single price.
Ask what the delivery radius is from Middelburg and whether it changes the minimum order.
