Product or service support
Pay-out and DebiCheck. An approved loan is paid within 48 business hours, but only once you approve Capfin’s DebiCheck mandate through your bank. If you have not confirmed it within 48 hours, the loan is not paid. You must approve a new mandate whenever you change your bank details or pay date, or if the loan is rescheduled.
Statements and debit orders. Capfin’s loan terms say you receive an updated statement every three months by SMS, with a link to the statement. The debit order shows as “Capfin” on your bank statement, and December instalments may be collected from the Friday before 14 December. If the account falls into arrears, Capfin may collect up to one and a half times the instalment on top of the normal instalment. To move your pay date or bank account, log in and use “Change My Payment Details” under Your Active Loans, or “Change Payment Details” under My Details.
Eligibility, account or policy requirements
Capfin lends up to R50 000, depending on an affordability assessment of your income, expenses, credit profile and payment behaviour. Its FAQ gives this cost example for a first loan of R4 000 over 12 months, at July 2026 rates: maximum interest 28% a year, an initiation fee of R535, a maximum monthly service fee of R69, credit life of R14 a month, a maximum instalment of R516 and a maximum total repayment of R6 190. The same FAQ describes 6 and 12 month terms but also shows a 24 month example, so check the term on your own quotation.
Credit life. Credit life is required with every Capfin loan, costs R5.50 a month per R1 000 borrowed, and settles the outstanding balance on death, disability or loss of qualifying income. You may replace it with your own equivalent policy, and cancelling needs 31 days’ written notice to the insurer. There is no waiting period for death or disability claims; loss-of-income claims carry a three month waiting period on loans longer than six months. For a death claim, Abacus asks for a copy of the deceased’s ID. Loans paid out before 22 June 2023 also carry Capfin’s Free Death Benefit, which writes off the outstanding balance: the family or executor emails the ID, the death certificate and, where applicable, letters of executorship, and Capfin then verifies the death itself.
