Capfin operating hours

Capfin’s contact page lists telephone hours of weekdays 08:00 to 18:00 only; it does not list Saturday, Sunday or public holiday hours for the phone line. Outside those hours, send a WhatsApp to 066 000 0683, dial *134*6454#, email info@capfin.co.za or use the “Send us a message” form on capfin.co.za.

Capfin self-service: WhatsApp and USSD

Capfin lists WhatsApp on 066 000 0683 and the USSD code *134*6454# as contact options on its website. USSD works from any phone without the internet, which is useful if you do not have data. Save the WhatsApp number in your contacts before messaging it, and have your ID number or Capfin account details ready so Capfin can find your loan. Only use the numbers shown on capfin.co.za: scammers sometimes pose as lenders on WhatsApp and social media.

Capfin loans

Capfin offers personal loans, and its online calculator covers amounts from R1,000 to R50,000 over 6, 12 or 24 months. Capfin says the amount it can lend depends on your credit application and affordability assessment. Its process has three steps:

  1. Do I qualify? Use the loan calculator to see potential repayments and complete a quick application for a personalised pre-approval offer within minutes.
  2. Can I afford it? Submit your detailed income and expense information so Capfin can assess affordability and give final approval.
  3. Let’s finalise it: choose your loan amount, provide your banking details and upload the required documents. Capfin says you can access your loan within 48 hours.

According to Capfin’s FAQs, you need a valid South African ID, your three latest payslips or bank statements, permanent employment with a monthly salary, a valid cellphone number and a bank account with a supported bank, and you must be 18 or older. You can apply online at capfin.co.za, by SMS to 33005, or at any PEP or Ackermans store. If your application is declined, you can reapply after 30 calendar days. For questions about a loan application or an existing loan, call 087 354 0000 on weekdays or use WhatsApp.

Capfin payments, arrangements and settlement

Capfin deducts your monthly instalment from the bank account you gave when your loan was approved. Other ways to pay listed in its FAQs are a bank deposit using your Capfin Personal Loan account number or ID number as the reference, an in-store payment at PEP, Ackermans or any Pay@ outlet using the Pay@ reference Capfin gives you, and the Capfin Pay@ payment portal linked by SMS when you set up a payment arrangement. If you cannot pay an instalment, contact Capfin’s Collections Department on 087 285 1234, log in to your online profile, or use *134*6454# to make an alternative payment arrangement; Capfin notes that non-payment will harm your credit record.

To settle your loan, get a settlement quote by calling 087 354 0000, logging in to your profile or using *134*6454#, then pay by direct deposit, EFT or Pay@. Capfin says a settlement quote is valid until the date you choose and never for more than 21 days, and it includes unpaid interest, fees and Capfin Life insurance up to the settlement date.

Reporting Capfin fraud

If you suspect fraud involving a Capfin loan, contact Capfin’s fraud department on 087 354 0033 (weekdays 08:00 to 17:00) or email fraudreport@capfin.co.za at any time. Capfin’s fraud alert page also publishes guides on identifying fraud, preventing identity theft, spotting fake social media accounts and protecting yourself from scams.
