Capitec App Contact Details
To report an unauthorised debit order in the Capitec app, go to Transact > Debit orders, choose the debit order, tap Dispute and pick a reason. Only debit orders under R800 can be disputed in the app. To report fraud or a transaction you did not make, call Capitec on 0860 10 20 43 (24 hours) or WhatsApp 067 418 9565. You can also call for free from inside the app. We read these details on capitecbank.co.za on 19 September 2026.

Disputing a debit order in the app
- Sign in on the Capitec app.
- Tap Transact, then Debit orders.
- Choose the debit order from the history menu.
- Tap Dispute and choose a reason.
- Accept the agreement.
Capitec warns that disputes are only for unauthorised debit orders and are “not a cash management tool”. Disputing a valid debit order can lead to a cancelled policy or service, an unpaid instalment, a lower credit score, being handed over for bad debt, and higher premiums or arrears interest. According to Capitec’s FAQ, ordinary EFT debit orders can be reversed immediately if disputed within 40 days. A DebiCheck debit order collected on the date and for the amount you approved cannot be reversed.
Reporting fraud to Capitec
| Personal banking | 0860 10 20 43 or WhatsApp 067 418 9565 |
| Business banking | 0860 30 92 50 |
| Outside South Africa | +27 21 941 1377 |
| In person | Any Capitec branch |
Capitec says you should call it if you notice transactions you did not make, if your personal or banking details have been compromised, if your phone or card is lost or stolen, or if you lose network connection for longer than usual. When you report fraud, Capitec stops the account or the affected channels and cards, and opens a case. It may ask for a sworn statement from SAPS. Once fraud is confirmed, the case goes to its Fraud Investigation department, and Capitec contacts you with the outcome.
Check your transactions in the app
To find the transaction, sign in, choose the account, and tap All, Money In or Money Out. Tap a transaction to see its details. To see spending by category, tap Track and choose Money out or Money in. Capitec says fraudsters send fake notifications, so treat your account statement as the true record.
Check that a call is really from Capitec
If someone phones you claiming to be from Capitec, open the app during the call:
- A green banner saying “We’re on a call with you” means the call is verified.
- A red banner saying “You’re NOT on a call with Capitec” means Capitec cannot verify the call. Hang up. The app blocks risky transactions until the call ends.
Capitec will never ask you to move money to a “safe account”, reverse fraud by making a transaction, switch on online banking, dispute debit orders on its behalf, or share your PIN or OTP.
Payments that cannot be reversed
Capitec’s FAQ says a Pay Bill payment cannot be cancelled or reversed once it is made. If you paid the wrong bill, contact the service provider. For purchase disputes, contact the merchant first. If the merchant will not help, Capitec can process a chargeback with the merchant’s bank. Call 0860 10 20 43 or visit a branch with your evidence.
