The Capitec contact number for personal banking is 0860 10 20 43, and the Client Care Centre answers it 24 hours a day. From outside South Africa call +27 21 440 3580. The Capitec WhatsApp number is 067 418 9565, open from 06:00 to 22:00, and the client care email address is ClientCare@capitecbank.co.za. Business banking has its own line, 0860 30 92 50, because personal and business accounts run on separate systems and one team cannot fix the other’s account. Every number on this page was read from capitecbank.co.za on 14 September 2026.

Numbers starting with 0860 are share-call numbers, not toll-free lines, so the call is charged. If you are worried about airtime, the WhatsApp line and the Capitec app are cheaper ways in.

Capitec customer care: which channel to use

Capitec describes the Client Care Centre as the place for everything from questions and queries to compliments and complaints, so 0860 10 20 43 is the default number for a personal account, online banking or app problem. It is the only personal channel open through the night, which makes it the one to call for anything urgent after 22:00.

The WhatsApp line suits daytime self-service. For a written record, for example when you are querying a transaction, email ClientCare@capitecbank.co.za from the email address on your profile and include the date and amount. Capitec does not publish a separate legal department or procurement mailbox for customers on its contact page, so account matters go through client care.

Lost or stolen card, and reporting fraud

Stop a lost personal card straight away. Capitec gives three ways to do it:

  • WhatsApp: add 067 418 9565, say “Hello”, tap Main Menu, choose Self-service, then Options and Stop Card, and pick the card from the list
  • App: sign in with your Remote PIN, choose Cards, tap Stop Card and select a reason
  • Phone: call 0860 10 20 43, or 021 440 3580 if you are outside South Africa

For a business card, stop it on online banking under Cards, or call 0860 30 92 50 and choose option 1, which is also available 24 hours.

If you are the victim of a scam involving your account, Capitec’s instruction is to report the crime to the SAPS immediately and contact the 24-hour Client Care Centre on 0860 10 20 43. Do both, because the SAPS case number is usually needed later. Capitec does not list a separate fraud hotline number on its contact page; the Client Care Centre is the fraud line. For suspected security flaws in Capitec’s own systems, the bank publishes a Vulnerability Disclosure Policy rather than routing reports through client care.

Capitec credit and repayment help

To apply for personal credit, or to ask about an existing credit product, call 0860 66 77 89. If you are struggling with repayments, Capitec offers a separate set of channels:

  • WhatsApp 072 822 1582
  • SMS your South African ID or foreign passport number to 30679 and Capitec will call you back
  • call 0860 66 77 18 directly

The call-back SMS is a practical option if you do not have airtime to wait in a queue.

Capitec business banking and merchant support

The business banking contact centre is on 0113 02 04 00 or 0860 30 92 50, around the clock. The business banking relationship suite uses 0860 30 92 50 during office hours, Monday to Friday 06:30 to 19:00 and Saturday 08:00 to 12:00. Merchants with card machine or payment problems have a dedicated 24-hour line on 0860 66 77 06 and the mailbox MerchantSupport@capitecbank.co.za.

If a business account has fallen behind, the Business Banking Collections team can be reached on 021 137 6436, at BusinessBankingCollections@capitecbank.co.za, or on WhatsApp 067 418 9565. Capitec asks customers to get in touch as early as possible so a payment plan can be worked out.

Capitec complaints and escalation

Capitec runs complaints in three steps.

  • Step 1: submit the Get in touch feedback form on capitecbank.co.za, choosing Personal or Business Bank and the feedback type. Keep the case number you are given.
  • Step 2: if it is not resolved, it is escalated to the Complaint Management team at complaintmanagement@capitecbank.co.za. Capitec says it will acknowledge the escalation, name the person investigating, and contact you within 24 hours.
  • Step 3: if you are still unhappy, take it to the relevant ombud, free of charge.

Capitec branches

Capitec does not publish direct telephone numbers for individual branches on its contact page. Searches for branches such as Cape Gate, Brooklyn Mall, Montague Gardens, Silver Lakes, Baywest or Woodstock are best answered with the Find a Branch tool on capitecbank.co.za, which shows each branch’s address and trading hours. Branches inside shopping centres often follow the centre’s hours. For anything to do with your account, the 24-hour Client Care Centre on 0860 10 20 43 can help without a branch visit.

Capitec Bank Limited is registered as 1980/003695/06, is an authorised financial services provider under FSP 46669, and is a registered credit provider under NCRCP13.
