Official Capfin route to change your details

How you change your details depends on what you are changing:

  • Cellphone number: Capfin’s FAQ says to contact one of its consultants on 087 354 0000 to update your details. You cannot change it yourself online, because the One-Time-Pin (OTP) is only sent to the number you gave at registration.
  • Debit order pay date or bank account: change these online under “Your Active Loans” then “Change My Payment Details”, or “My Details” then “Change Payment Details”. You can also call 087 354 0000.

Capfin also lists WhatsApp on 066 000 0683, email at info@capfin.co.za, USSD on *134*6454# and a contact form on its website.

What you need before contacting Capfin

To log in to your online profile you need your 13-digit South African ID number and access to your registered cellphone, because Capfin sends an OTP to that number. If you no longer have the registered cellphone you cannot log in, so call the contact centre instead.

If you are changing your banking details or pay date, have the new account number and pay date ready. Your bank may then ask you to approve a DebiCheck authentication: Capfin’s DebiCheck mandate must be re-approved every time your banking details or pay date change.

Step-by-step process

  1. To change your cellphone number, call a Capfin consultant on 087 354 0000, weekdays from 08:00 to 18:00.
  2. To change payment details online, log in at capfin.co.za with your SA ID number and the OTP sent to your registered cellphone.
  3. Select “Your Active Loans” then “Change My Payment Details”, or “My Details” then “Change Payment Details”, and enter the new account number or pay date.
  4. Approve the DebiCheck authentication request from your bank if you are prompted.
  5. If you suspect someone else changed your details, report it to the fraud department on 087 354 0033 or fraudreport@capfin.co.za.

Escalation route

If your details were changed without your permission, contact Capfin’s fraud department on 087 354 0033, weekdays from 08:00 to 17:00. The fraud report email, fraudreport@capfin.co.za, takes reports 24/7. For anything else, use the contact centre on 087 354 0000.

For other lenders, browse the banking and finance hub or the banking directory F to I listings.
