Ford Credit is the vehicle finance arm behind a Ford purchase in South Africa. The first thing to know is that its published mailboxes are Absa addresses, because the finance book is administered with Absa rather than by Ford itself, so an email about your Ford account correctly goes to an absa.africa address.

Official contact channels

The two mailboxes are different desks and are not interchangeable. Use the personal address for an individual agreement and the commercial one for a business or fleet agreement, otherwise the query has to be re-routed. Hotline hours are Monday to Friday 08:00 to 18:00 and Saturday 08:00 to 13:00, with no Sunday service.

What this organisation provides

Ford Credit finances new and used vehicle purchases for individuals and for businesses, at either a fixed or a linked rate of interest, over terms from 24 to 72 months. It also offers a deferred payment plan under which the first payment is deferred to 90 days from the start of the agreement; that deferral is limited to the first payment only, and the plan covers Ford Options transactions for individuals rather than for business agreements. A linked rate moves with the prime lending rate while a fixed rate does not, which is the single biggest decision on the paperwork.

Address and operating information

No walk in address is published for Ford Credit. Applications are made through a Ford dealer at the point of sale or through the finance application form on the Ford website, and the account is then serviced by telephone and email. Have the agreement number to hand when you call, since the account is traced by that rather than by the vehicle registration.

Support and escalation routes

Take a query about the account, the balance, a settlement quote or a debit order to the hotline or the correct mailbox first. If it is unresolved, the agreement is a credit agreement under the National Credit Act, so the National Credit Regulator on 0860 627 627 covers reckless lending and conduct under the Act, and an unresolved dispute goes to the National Financial Ombud Scheme South Africa on 0860 800 900.

One distinction saves a wasted call. A fault with the vehicle itself is not a Ford Credit matter even though you are paying Ford Credit every month. Defects, workmanship and warranty run through the selling dealer and, if unresolved, the Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa on 0861 164 672. The finance house cannot fix a car or cancel an agreement because the car is faulty.
