MASA is Measured Ability South Africa, a staffing and labour broking agency owned by Measured Ability Group Holdings. Two things trip people up: the website sits on measuredability.com while every office mailbox is on masa.co.za, and the head office is in Durban, not Johannesburg.

Which division you actually need
- MASA itself handles blue collar recruitment, labour broking, labour hire and outsourced temporary employment services
- Greys Recruitment is the white collar arm, for permanent and temporary professional placements
- Greys Nursing supplies nursing staff to hospitals, care facilities and in-home care
- Independent Offshore Services covers permanent and temporary placements elsewhere in Africa, and the group also runs a labour hire business in Australia
- Say which of these you want when you phone. The offices are shared, the desks are not
If you are looking for work through an agency
- Send a CV to the office mailbox for your province rather than to head office. The regional offices hold the local vacancies
- A placement agency may not charge you a fee for finding you a job. Charging a work seeker is prohibited under the Employment Services Act. Any request for a registration fee, an admin fee or a fee for a medical or induction is a warning sign, whoever the agency claims to be
- A temporary employment service must be registered with the Department of Employment and Labour. Ask for the registration number if you are unsure
- Never pay for a job, and never hand over an ID document, a bank card or a SASSA card to an agency representative
Escalation
- Wage, hours or dismissal problems in a placement go to the CCMA on 0861 161 616
- Complaints about an unregistered agency or a fee charged to a work seeker go to the Department of Employment and Labour on 0800 872 222
- For a service complaint about the agency itself, write to the regional office mailbox and keep the thread
