The Centre for Dispute Resolution sits in the same building as the national office but has its own number, 011 834 4660. For a dispute rather than an administrative query, use it.

The provident fund

MEIBC does not publish a separate telephone number or mailbox for the provident fund.

What it publishes is the governing document: the Consolidated Provident Fund Collective Agreement for the Metal Industries, posted under Agreements on its website and last updated on the site in October 2025.

Be warned that the agreement is a scanned document rather than a text file, so you cannot search it for a word or copy text out of it. You will be reading twenty-four pages of images.

For a query about your own contributions, a withdrawal or a benefit, start at the national office on 011 639 8000, or at your regional office from the list below. MEIBC administers several funds, so say at the outset that yours is the provident fund rather than the pension fund or the sick pay fund, which are separate agreements.

Check that an MEIBC agent is genuine

This is the most useful thing on the MEIBC website and almost nobody knows it is there.

MEIBC agents visit employers to check compliance, which makes impersonating one an obvious fraud. MEIBC therefore runs a public agent verification page, a searchable staff list where you can look up a person by name and see their region, their role and their agent number.

If someone arrives at your premises claiming to act for MEIBC, ask for their name and agent number and check both on that page before giving them anything. We have not reproduced the staff list here, because it is a roster of named individuals and it changes.

Every genuine agent’s address ends in meibc.co.za. An agent contacting you from a free webmail account is a warning sign.

Two names are misleading. The Midlands Region is in Port Elizabeth, in the Eastern Cape, not in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands. The Border Region is East London.

Only two regions publish an email address

Of the eleven offices, just two give a mailbox: tshwane@meibc.co.za for Tshwane and mpumalanga@meibc.co.za for Witbank. The other nine publish a telephone number and a fax only.

For the rest, use the contact form on the MEIBC website or phone. There is no regional address to guess at, and guessing one will bounce.

Most fax numbers run in a single block, from 086 636 8689 for Gauteng through to 086 636 8699 for the Centre for Dispute Resolution, with the national office on 086 636 8690.

George is the exception and it contains an error. Its fax is published as 044 873 321, which is only nine digits and cannot be dialled as it stands. Use one of its two telephone numbers instead.
