MIBFA operating hours and toll-free number
MIBFA does not publish office or call centre operating hours. Call 0860 102 544 or your regional office line to check before you visit. MIBFA describes 0860 102 544 as a share call number and publishes no toll-free 0800 number.
MIBFA Port Elizabeth office
MIBFA does not publish a Port Elizabeth or Gqeberha office. Its contact page lists only Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, so Eastern Cape members should use the Call Centre on 0860 102 544.
MIBFA claims and complaints email address
MIBFA publishes no dedicated complaints or general claims mailbox. For queries, compliments or complaints about contributions, marketing, investments, the sick pay fund or retirement funds, use the Email Us form on the MIBFA contact page or call 0860 102 544. Two Pot savings applications go to savingsclaims@mibfa.co.za, sent by your employer, and savings value questions go to MarketingEnquiries@mibfa.co.za. Withdrawal, retirement, death and disability claim forms are also submitted by the employer, and the forms are on the MIBFA Forms page. For the Sick Pay Fund, only original application forms are accepted, and faxed copies are not processed.

What is MIBFA?
The Metal Industries Benefit Funds Administrators (MIBFA) is a non-profit company that administers benefit funds in the metal and engineering industry, including the Metal Industries Provident Fund (MIPF) and the Engineering Industries Pension Fund (EIPF). Its website serves members and helps employers, including wages, human resources and finance staff, understand their obligations under the Pension Funds Act, the Income Tax Act and the industry’s Main Agreement. The site also carries information on contributions, the MEIBC sick pay fund, retirement, withdrawal, death and disability benefits, and forms.
MIBFA WhatsApp number
MIBFA’s contact page, member portal page and Two Pot documents do not list a WhatsApp number, including for the Two Pot system. The contact numbers MIBFA publishes are the Call Centre on 0860 102 544 and its office landlines in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. Because Two Pot withdrawals involve your ID, bank details and retirement savings, be careful of any “MIBFA Two Pot WhatsApp number” shared on social media, and use the official numbers above or ask your employer’s HR department.
MIBFA member portal login
On www.mibfa.co.za, click Benefit Statements and Two Pot Savings to open the Member Portal, choose whether you want your benefit statements or your Two Pot savings information, and log in with your ID number and password. MIBFA says to phone the MIBFA Call Centre on 0860 102 544, or ask your HR department to phone, to obtain your password; if you are logging in for the first time, you need to call the Call Centre to activate your password. The portal shows your current savings benefit breakdown and values, which replace the old savings statements. There is also a benefit statement query form on the login page.
MIBFA provident fund payout
A MIBFA provident fund payout, called a withdrawal benefit, pays your full Fund Credit as a cash lump sum if your employment ends before age 55 through resignation, dismissal, the end of a contract or absconding. Your employer completes and supplies the paperwork on your behalf: the Application for Withdrawal Benefit form, signed by you in front of an HR official, a copy of your ID, a bank mandate form signed by you, and the employer’s Certificate of Service. How long does a MIBFA payout take?
MIBFA publishes no payout timeframe. It says the Fund pays these benefits as soon as possible after the completed claim forms and supporting documents are received. For your payment status, call the Call Centre on 0860 102 544 or check the Member Portal.
Two Pot savings payments are not immediate either: your employer completes and submits the application, then MIBFA verifies your ID and bank details and applies to SARS for a tax directive, and large volumes can cause delays. A savings withdrawal can be delayed or refused if MIBFA cannot verify your personal or bank details, the amount is under R2 000, a withdrawal was already paid in the same tax year, SARS refuses a tax directive, or a housing loan is guaranteed against the benefit.
MIBFA Two Pot system: how to withdraw
From 1 September 2024, MIBFA members have up to four pots, including a Savings Pot, which holds the Two Pot seeding amount and one-third of retirement contributions from that date and can be withdrawn without leaving employment, and a Retirement Pot, which must be preserved until retirement. MIBFA’s savings withdrawal form sets these rules: the amount may not be less than R2,000, may not exceed your savings value, and you may claim only once per tax year, from 1 March to the end of February. The amount is subject to tax and admin fees.
- First application: complete the application form in full, attach a clear copy of your ID, a bank confirmation letter or current bank statement for the account your salary is paid into, and any divorce or maintenance court orders. Your employer completes the employer’s declaration and emails the form to savingsclaims@mibfa.co.za. No alterations are accepted on the form.
- Applying online: you can apply through the Member Portal only if you have claimed successfully before, a savings payment letter was issued for that claim, your savings value is R2,000 or more, and your details have not changed.
MIBFA registration and contribution submissions
Firms in the metal and engineering industries must register with the MEIBC, and registration is handled by an MEIBC agent visiting the company. Employers submit contributions online through the MIBFA Contribution capture system, logging in with their Firm Number and password. Anyone submitting contributions online for the first time must get a password from the MIBFA CRM Team on 011 688 3114 or ContributionInfo@mibfa.co.za, and MIBFA has a first-time login tutorial on its website. Contributions must be paid in full within 7 days after the end of the month, with a monthly reconciliation.
