The Thusano Trust holds and pays out benefits to beneficiaries connected to South African mining employment, with Gold Fields and Sibanye-Stillwater named among its links. Its administration is handled by JSE Investor Services (JIS). The contact details below were read from the Thusano Trust contact page on 2 September 2026.
Official contact channels
- JIS call centre: 086 125 5525 or 086 143 3659, weekdays 08:00-16:30
- Please Call Me: send to 083 680 0079 for a weekday call-back within 24 hours
- USSD: dial *120*1138# from a South African mobile
- Email: [email protected]
- In person: your nearest TEBA office
- From outside South Africa: +27 11 713 0000, or text +27 83 680 0079 to request a call-back
The access design here is unusually thoughtful, and worth using. A beneficiary with no airtime can send a Please Call Me or dial the USSD code, and a call-back can be requested in your preferred language. Former mineworkers are often rural, multilingual and not online, and the Trust has built for that.
Note the email is on jseinvestorservices.co.za, not a thusanotrust address – that is the administrator, not a phishing address. The Trust’s own site is thusanotrust.org; the .co.za domain redirects there.
What this organisation provides
The Trust publishes payout information, a beneficiary check, FICA document guidance and a personal journey and money section, with access to the JIS portal for beneficiaries.
FICA verification is what holds most payouts up. As a regulated financial administration, JIS must verify identity before releasing money, so getting your FICA documents in is usually the step that unblocks a delayed payment. The Trust publishes a My FICA Docs route for exactly this.
If you are unsure whether you qualify at all, the site publishes an Am I a beneficiary? check – start there rather than with the call centre.
Address and operating information
Call centre hours: weekdays 08:00 to 16:30. No street address is published for the Trust itself; in-person help is through TEBA offices, which are listed on the site and are spread across mining and labour-sending areas.
Both call centre numbers are 086 shared-cost lines. The Please Call Me and USSD routes cost nothing, which matters if airtime is the obstacle.
Support and escalation routes
Have your identity document and any employment or membership reference ready – a payout is matched to a verified identity, not to a name.
Never pay anyone to release a payout. Benefit and provident payouts to former mineworkers are a known target for intermediaries who charge a fee to “process” a claim. The Trust’s own channels are free, and TEBA offices assist at no charge.
Escalate an unresolved payout in writing to the administrator, keeping the reference. Where the benefit derives from a retirement or provident fund, an unresolved complaint goes to the Pension Funds Adjudicator. Conduct by a financial services provider falls to the Financial Sector Conduct Authority.
