Start with the web address, because the wrong one is still in wide circulation. Thekwini TVET College is at thekwini.edu.za. The older thekwinicollege.co.za address, which still appears in some official listings, no longer belongs to the college: it now serves a browser-fingerprinting redirect into an advertising page. Six campuses sit within roughly ten kilometres of central Durban. Each has its own switchboard, and applications, registration and academic queries are handled by the campus rather than centrally.

Choosing a campus

Because the campuses are close together, the deciding factor is usually the programme rather than the distance. Engineering, business and utility studies are not offered everywhere, and the same qualification can run on a trimester timetable at one campus and a semester timetable at another. Phone the campus switchboard and ask which programmes it actually runs this intake before you apply, rather than applying to the nearest one and being redirected.

Applications and funding

• Apply directly to the campus offering the programme; there is no fee to submit an application
• NSFAS bursary funding is applied for separately from the college application, with its own deadline
• The college cannot approve, release or delay an NSFAS allowance; that is decided by NSFAS
