The FIC contact number and compliance query form
The FIC’s head office number, +27 12 641 6000, is also the number it gives for compliance queries. You can submit a written compliance query through the form at fic.gov.za/compliance-queries-2/. Other general scams and related incidents can be reported by email to scams@fic.gov.za.
The fraud hotline, 0800 701 701, is only for reporting improper conduct involving the FIC’s own employees. The FIC has stopped using fax, and it says calls, emails and other communication with it may be recorded or monitored.
What the FIC does under FICA
FICA is the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, 2001 (Act 38 of 2001), and the FIC is the body that administers it: South Africa’s financial intelligence unit, established in 2002. It is the only entity authorised to receive transaction data from financial and non-financial institutions. Institutions that are covered by FICA register and file reports with the FIC through its goAML portal at goweb.fic.gov.za.
The compliance query form covers topics such as:
- How to Register
- Request ORG ID number
- Risk and Compliance Return
- RMCP
- Beneficial Ownership
- Forgot Password
Where the FIC is and how to reach it
The FIC’s postal address is Financial Intelligence Centre, Private Bag X177, Centurion 0046. It does not publish a street address or office hours on its contact page, so use the phone line or the online form.
Registering with the FIC through goAML
To register as an institution or file a report, use the goAML portal at goweb.fic.gov.za. For registration or reporting questions, open the compliance query form. All fields are required, including your ORG ID, institution name and institution type (for example estate agent, credit provider, motor vehicle dealer, crypto asset service provider, or private individual). If you would rather talk to someone, call +27 12 641 6000. To report improper conduct by an FIC employee, call the fraud hotline on 0800 701 701.
For other national departments and public bodies, browse the government hub or the government directory F to G listings.
