Services at this location
- Maintenance claims: maintenance can be claimed from the Fund, meaning the interest plus up to R250 000 of capital, on forms J341 or J341A, supported by quotations and accounts. Payments can go directly to schools or service providers.
- Capital claims: a beneficiary claims capital on form J251 (J251A for foreign payments), with a certified copy of an ID or passport and fingerprint verification. Fingerprint verification can be done at any Master’s Office.
- Unclaimed money: claimable accounts are advertised in the Government Gazette every September, and the list of unclaimed Guardian’s Funds is on the justice.gov.za site. Money unclaimed for 30 years after it became claimable is forfeited to the state.
The Master administers the Fund free of charge. Payments are made by EFT only, and tracing agents may not collect payments on a beneficiary’s behalf.
