The Guardian’s Fund holds money paid to the Master for minors, persons incapable of managing their own affairs, unborn heirs and missing or absent persons. Each Master’s office has its own Guardian’s Fund, and the Master administers the fund free of charge.
- Maintenance claims: claim on forms J341 and J341A, with quotations or accounts. The Master may pay from interest and up to R250 000 of invested capital.
- Capital claims by beneficiaries: claim on form J251 with a certified copy of your ID and fingerprint verification. Payment is made by EFT.
- Unclaimed money: money unclaimed for 30 years from the date it became claimable is forfeited to the state. Unclaimed accounts are advertised in the Government Gazette every September.
