The Labour Court serving Johannesburg does not sit at a Johannesburg city centre address. It sits at Braamfontein, and the Office of the Chief Justice files it under that name rather than under Johannesburg.
Local channels
- Labour Court registrar, Braamfontein: 010 494 9241
Address
Braamfontein is immediately north of the Johannesburg central business district, so the court is in Johannesburg in the ordinary sense while being filed under the suburb. There is no separate Labour Court elsewhere in the city.
Services at this location
The building is on the corner of Juta and Melle Street in Braamfontein, and its postal code, 2001 for the street and 2017 for the private bag, is a Braamfontein code rather than the Johannesburg 2000 used by the magistrate and high courts.
Parent organisation
Three Johannesburg courts are easily confused: the magistrate court at 26 Fox Street on 011 491 5000, the Gauteng Local Division high court at Von Brandis and Pritchard on 010 494 8486, and this Labour Court at Braamfontein. All three handle different work and none can deal with the others matters.
