Sabc TV Licence Contact Details
The SABC TV Licence email address is tvlic.info@sabc.co.za. The Customer Service Centre is on 011 330 9555, open 08:00 to 18:00 on weekdays and 08:00 to 13:00 on Saturdays, closed Sundays and public holidays. Accounts are checked and paid online at pay.tvlic.co.za. We read this on tvlic.co.za on 24 September 2026 and rechecked it on 26 September 2026. This page covers South Africa’s SABC TV licensing; “TV Licensing” is also the name of the UK body, which is a different organisation.
When you email, include your ID number and your TV licence account number. SABC asks for both so the query can be matched to your account.

How to contact TV licensing: email, phone and address
The TV licensing email address is tvlic.info@sabc.co.za and the TV licensing contact number is 011 330 9555 (weekdays 08:00 to 18:00, Saturdays 08:00 to 13:00). The SABC’s main contact page repeats the same number and hours, and its web form has a TV Licenses department option. All notices to the SABC must be in writing, addressed to The Manager, Television Licences, SABC, Private Bag X60, Auckland Park 2006, or sent by freepost to JHZ153K. Address changes must be reported in writing within 30 days.

Check the address bar before you type anything into a TV licence page.
The obvious-looking domain tvlicence.co.za is not the SABC’s. On 24 September 2026 it was a parked page whose own title read that the website is for sale, served on Sedo’s parking nameservers. It carries no SABC content.
The SABC’s own website links its TV Licences menu item to tvlic.co.za, spelled without the “ence”. That is the live site, and payments run through pay.tvlic.co.za.
A parked domain can change hands and start serving anything, so treat a TV licence page on any other address with suspicion, particularly one asking for card details.
There is no cancellation email address
This is the query people most often go looking for, and the honest answer is that SABC does not publish a separate mailbox for it.
SABC’s own FAQ sets out two conditions. A licence is no longer required once you have sold or otherwise disposed of your television set, but the SABC must be notified on a prescribed form, an affidavit, of the changed circumstances. An email on its own does not do it.
The second condition is blunter: no licence is cancelled while money is still outstanding on the account. Arrears must be settled before a cancellation goes through, so a cancellation request sent while the account is behind will not close it.
Use tvlic.info@sabc.co.za or call 011 330 9555 to ask for the prescribed form and what must accompany it. Check your balance at the same time, because that determines whether cancellation is even possible yet.
TV licence registration and fees
The annual fee is R265 for a domestic, business, dealer, lessor or mobile licence, and R74 for a concessionary licence. First-time applicants pay the full R265 upfront; renewals of a domestic licence may then be paid at R28 a month. Businesses apply with the Business TV Licence Application Form (PDF) on tvlic.co.za. Accounts, balances and payments are handled at pay.tvlic.co.za. Renewal notices are sent about 2 months ahead, and not receiving one is no excuse for late renewal.
SABC TV licence confirmation
SABC does not publish a dedicated online confirmation letter service. To confirm that your licence is paid up, call 011 330 9555 or email tvlic.info@sabc.co.za, quoting your ID number and TV licence account number.
Checking your account number online
Balances and account details are handled through pay.tvlic.co.za, which has its own login.
A TV licence account number is nine digits. SABC stresses that only the correct nine-digit number should be used as the payment reference, so if the number you are holding is longer or shorter, it is not the account number.

How to pay a TV licence via EFT
To pay by EFT, use the TV Licences account details on the paypoints page of tvlic.co.za (tvlic.co.za/tvlic/paypoints/), and enter only your correct nine-digit TV licence account number in the beneficiary reference field. The same page lists counter deposit options at ABSA, FNB, Standard Bank and Nedbank. You can also pay at the Post Office, retailers such as Makro and Incredible Connection, Pay@ outlets (PEP, SPAR, Ackermans) and Easypay outlets (Pick n Pay).
Who may contact you about arrears
SABC publishes the debt collection agencies on its panel. If someone phones about a TV licence debt, you can check the number against this list.

A caller who is not one of these three, and who pushes you to pay immediately into an account they read out over the phone, is worth verifying on 011 330 9555 before you part with anything.
SABC TV licence scam report and complaints email address
SABC TV Licences does not publish a dedicated scam-report line or complaints mailbox. To report a suspicious call or complain, use 011 330 9555, tvlic.info@sabc.co.za, or the SABC contact form at sabc.co.za/sabc/contact/ (choose Complaints or TV Licenses). Only pay into the official accounts on the tvlic.co.za paypoints page, with your nine-digit account number as the reference.
Concessionary licences
SABC runs a concessionary domestic licence. Two groups qualify: a person receiving a State social grant as an aged or disabled person or a war veteran, as defined in the Social Assistance Act of 1992, and a person aged 70 or older, from the beginning of the first licence year after turning 70.
It is not automatic. You must apply to the SABC and submit the prescribed documentation. Ask about it on 011 330 9555 or by email rather than assuming a birthday has changed anything.
