- Cardiac and neurosurgical emergencies do not go through rooms. Call an ambulance on 10177, or 112 from a mobile phone, for chest pain with sweating or breathlessness, for sudden weakness or speech loss, or after a head injury with drowsiness or vomiting.
- Angiography, stenting, pacemaker implantation and neurosurgery all need scheme pre-authorisation before admission, and the surgeon, the anaesthetist and the hospital bill separately. Ask what the shortfall will be rather than assuming the authorisation covers everything.
