Bidvest Tire Insurance Contact Details
Two naming points first, because both send people to the wrong place. The product is spelled tyre and it is sold as Tyre and Rim Insurance. And it comes from Bidvest Insurance, not from the Bidvest holding group — phoning the group switchboard gets you routed, not helped.
Bidvest Insurance contact details
- Main number: 086 166 8888, written by Bidvest as 0861 66 88 88
- Email: info@bidvestinsurance.co.za

The contact page carries separate sections for Our Offices, Emergency Phone Numbers, Claims, Policy Administration, Complaints and DebiCheck — so ask for the right one by name when you call rather than describing the problem to the switchboard.
Who you are actually insured with
Bidvest Insurance Limited, registration 1997/019461/06, a licensed non-life insurer and authorised financial services provider FSP 46395, established 1997. Those are the numbers to quote to a regulator, and the ones to check if someone phones you claiming to sell this product.
What Tyre and Rim Insurance actually covers
- Replacement tyres where the damage is irreparable, and repair costs where it is repairable — both subject to policy limits.
- Specified rim repairs.
- Wheel alignment and wheel balancing.
- Unlimited puncture repairs.
- Month-to-month cover, advertised from R109 a month.
Note the two-tier logic: repairable damage is repaired, irreparable damage is replaced, and both are capped. Ask what the annual limit is and how many claims are allowed in a year, because that is where these policies differ from one another.
Why the product exists
Potholes. A tyre and rim claim on your comprehensive motor policy means paying an excess and taking a claim onto your record, which pushes your premium up at renewal. A standalone tyre and rim policy is meant to keep those small, frequent claims off the main policy. Whether it is worth it depends on your roads and your excess — do that sum before you buy.
Questions to ask before signing
- Is there a waiting period, and does existing damage count?
- Is there a minimum remaining tread depth below which a claim is refused? This is the most common decline reason.
- Must repairs be done at an approved fitment centre, and where is the nearest one to you?
- What is the annual limit and the claim limit per event?
- Is the cover really month-to-month, and what notice is needed to cancel?
If a claim is declined
- Ask for the decision in writing with the clause relied on. Tread depth and unroadworthy condition are the usual grounds.
- Use the complaints route on the contact page and keep the reference — the ombud will ask whether you did.
- Unresolved, a short-term insurance complaint goes to the National Financial Ombud Scheme, free of charge to you.
