There is no Uzalo casting agency. No company of that name publishes contact details, because casting for Uzalo is handled by the production company that makes the show, Stained Glass TV. The only address that company publishes is info@stainedglass.tv. Uzalo has stated publicly that it never charges to audition. We read this on stainedglass.tv, sabc.co.za and the show’s own accounts on 25 September 2026.

Stained Glass TV was founded in 2015 by co-chief executives Kobedi “Pepsi” Pokane and Gugu Zuma-Ncube, and lists Uzalo among its own productions. The company publishes no telephone number anywhere on its site, so an email or the form is the whole of it.
What the show itself says about fees
This is the part worth reading twice, because it settles the question.
Uzalo’s official account has warned that a scam was being run through a fake Uzalo page which was soliciting registration fees for auditions. The show said it follows normal industry practice and “would never in any situation require fees for bringing talent on board”. It added that it would never ask for money, identity documents or birth certificates.
Take that as the rule. A request for money is not a step in the process; it is the whole scam. The amounts asked for are deliberately small, often the price of a taxi fare, because a small amount feels safe and is not worth reporting. The same applies to a request for your identity document or your child’s birth certificate before you have met anybody.
The accounts that are genuinely the show’s
Impersonation here works through social accounts rather than telephone numbers, so knowing the real handles is the practical defence. These are the ones the show and the production company point to themselves:
- Uzalo on Facebook, as OfficialUzaloSABC1. It was posting the day we checked.
- Uzalo on X, as @Uzalo_SABC1, with an underscore before SABC1 and about 632,000 followers. Its own description credits the production company.
- Uzalo on Instagram, as uzalo_sabc1, which is the account linked from that X profile.
- Stained Glass TV on X as @stainedglasstv_, with a trailing underscore, and on Instagram as stainedglasstv1, ending in the digit one.
Those trailing characters are not decoration. A handle that drops the underscore, or swaps the one for an l, is the standard way a fake account is built, and it is invisible at a glance in a notification. Check the follower count as well as the name.
There is no Uzalo website
The domain uzalo.co.za does resolve, but it serves nothing: a request to it returns a bare 403 Forbidden error rather than a site. There is no official Uzalo web page there to check anything against.
That matters because email addresses ending in uzalo.co.za circulate on forums and casting blogs as though they were official casting contacts. An address on a domain with no working site is not something you can verify, and we do not republish those. The broadcaster’s own show page for Uzalo on the SABC1 site is also badly out of date and carries no casting information at all.
Why we do not list a verification number
The SABC has warned the public about fake casting agencies before, and when it did, it gave two staff members’ direct lines and their personal work addresses to call and check against.
That warning was published in July 2017. We are not reproducing those details, for two reasons that both matter here. They belong to named individuals rather than to a desk, and a direct line published in a warning about fraud is the first thing a fraudster reuses. They are also nine years old, and a verification number that no longer reaches anybody is worse than no number, because the person dialling it concludes they have checked.
If you want to verify a casting call, the durable check is the one that does not depend on a number: does the call appear on the official accounts listed above, and is anyone asking you for money.
If you want to audition
- Watch the official accounts. Open casting calls are announced there, and they are not constant, so there will be long stretches with nothing to apply for.
- Write to info@stainedglass.tv if you want to reach the production company directly. It is a general company address rather than a casting desk, so say plainly in the subject line that your message is about casting for Uzalo.
- Expect no reply. A general mailbox at a company producing a daily show receives a very large volume of this, and silence is not a verdict on you.
- Do not send original documents to anybody. No legitimate production needs your identity document or a birth certificate before you have been cast.
- The show is made in KwaZulu-Natal and set in KwaMashu, while the production company’s published address is in Johannesburg. Neither is a place to arrive at unannounced hoping to be seen.
