Builders Express Contact Details
Builders Express is a store format, not a separate company. Builders, owned by Massmart, runs four formats: Builders Warehouse, Builders Express, Builders Trade Depot and Builders Superstore, alongside its online store. Express is the smaller urban format, so its customer service, orders and complaints run through the same Builders channels as every other branch. The details below were checked on builders.co.za and massmart.co.za on 14 September 2026.

Builders does not publish a separate helpline for its Express stores. Use 0860 284 533 or info@builders.co.za for orders, deliveries and complaints, whichever store you bought from. For something only the branch can answer, such as whether an item is in stock today, look the store up with the store locator on builders.co.za. Massmart’s head office line and Massmart House address in Sunninghill, Sandton are for corporate, media and legal matters; they will refer a shopping query back to Builders.
Product or service support
Massmart describes Builders Express as a format for urban areas with a curated range of more than 10 000 products. That covers building materials, home decor and flat-pack furniture, with in-store services including:
- paint mixing
- assembly of flat-pack furniture
- pool water testing
Because the range is smaller than a Builders Warehouse, an item listed online may not be stocked at your nearest Express store. Check with the branch before you travel for a specific product, or order online. Builders’ sales support team handles telephone orders and cost estimates for larger jobs.
In October 2023 Massmart announced two new Builders Express stores: one near Mall of the North in Polokwane and one in Vergelegen in the Western Cape. Branch-level details change as stores open, so the store locator is more reliable than any list.
Eligibility, account or policy requirements
- Price Lock: Builders has extended its Price Lock campaign to 31 December 2026, fixing prices on selected products from paint and plaster to bathroom suites and gate motors. Participating items carry a red Price Lock tag in store, and the same prices apply online.
- Delivery: builders.co.za currently advertises free delivery on orders of R500 or more, subject to its terms and conditions.
- Store card accounts: the Builders card is a credit product. Statement, balance and payment queries go to the card provider rather than the store; see Builders RCS card contact details.
- Proof of purchase: keep the till slip or online order number. Any return or complaint starts with it.
Escalation route
- Raise the problem with the store manager at the branch, with your slip.
- If the store does not resolve it, log it with the Builders contact centre on 0860 284 533 or in writing to info@builders.co.za, and ask for a reference number.
- If Builders does not resolve it, take it to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud on 0860 000 272, WhatsApp 081 335 3005 or info@cgso.org.za. The Ombud will want to see that you gave the retailer a chance first, so keep the reference.
Building materials are a common target for fake online sellers. Buy through builders.co.za or in a store, and do not pay a deposit into a personal bank account for goods offered under the Builders name on social media.
