Avis Car Rental George Contact Details

Official source onlyIndependent directoryReport a wrong number

The advertised daily rate is not what a rental costs. The excess is the number that matters: standard cover still leaves you liable for a substantial amount if the car is damaged, and that is the figure to ask about before you book, not at the counter.

ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory and is not Avis.

Before you drive away

  • Photograph the car all round, including the roof, windscreen, wheels and tyres, with the timestamp on. Windscreen chips and kerbed rims are the most disputed items.
  • Check the damage sheet matches what you can see and get any extra mark added before signing.
  • Confirm the fuel policy. Returning short of the agreed level is charged at a premium rate.
  • Ask what the excess reduces to if you take the extra waiver, and whether tyres, glass and undercarriage are included. They frequently are not.

Licences, borders and fines

Three things catch travellers out. A foreign licence must be in English or accompanied by an international permit. Taking a rental across a border requires written authorisation from the rental company in advance, plus the vehicle’s papers, and doing it without one can void cover entirely. And traffic fines follow the vehicle: the company redirects them to you and usually adds an administration fee, sometimes months later.

Keep the signed return slip. It is your evidence of the condition and fuel level at handover if a charge appears afterwards. For an unresolved dispute, the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud is 0860 000 272, free of charge.

George is on the 044 code. Branch and airport desk details should be confirmed on the operator’s own site, checked 25 August 2026.
