Amazon.co.za is run by Amazon Commercial Services (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd. The details below were read from amazon.co.za on 2 September 2026.
Official contact channels
Amazon South Africa publishes no customer service phone number. Its help pages offer phone and chat, but only behind a sign-in – the Contact Us page opens with “Sign in to get started”, and the number is issued to your session rather than printed on the site. Any South African Amazon number you find on a directory or a search result did not come from Amazon, and treating it as genuine is how people end up talking to someone who is not Amazon at all.
- Customer service: amazon.co.za, Customer Service, after signing in – phone callback or chat
- Registered company: Amazon Commercial Services (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd
- Copyright claims: copyright@amazon.com, or the Copyright Agent, Amazon.com Legal Department, P.O. Box 81226, Seattle WA 98108, USA
What this organisation provides
Amazon.co.za sells across arts and crafts, baby, beauty, books, electronics and photo, gift cards, health and personal care, home and kitchen, home improvement, office products, pet supplies, sports and outdoors, toys and games and video games, and hosts third-party sellers alongside its own stock.
Who sold the item changes who fixes the problem. A marketplace order is fulfilled by a third-party seller, and the first route for a delivery or condition dispute is that seller through Amazon’s messaging – not Amazon’s own customer service.
Address and operating information
Amazon Commercial Services (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd, 29 Gogosoa Street, Observatory, Cape Town 7925.
This is the registered address given in the Conditions of Use, and it is the address for formal or legal correspondence – a letter of demand, a POPIA request, a notice. It is not a walk-in service counter and posting a returns query there will not speed anything up.
Support and escalation routes
Start in your account: the order page carries the return, refund and problem-with-order options, and those create the record everything later depends on. Keep the order number and the chat transcript.
If it goes further, the Conditions of Use are explicit: disputes are resolved before the High Court of South Africa, with the parties consenting to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Gauteng Division, Johannesburg. Amazon reserves the right to bring liquidated claims in the Magistrate’s Court regardless of amount. Note what that means in practice – the agreed forum is a Johannesburg court, whichever province you bought from.
Before court, the Consumer Protection Act routes apply to online retail: the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud for a retailer dispute, and the National Consumer Commission for conduct that breaches the Act. Those are free, and a court clause in a supplier’s terms does not remove them.
