UMP is the University of Mpumalanga, with campuses at Mbombela and Siyabuswa. The contact details below were read from ump.ac.za on 2 September 2026.
Official contact channels
- Switchboard: 013 002 0001
- General enquiries: [email protected]
- Applications and registration: [email protected]
UMP publishes only one telephone number. There is no separate admissions or finance line – applications and registration are handled by email, so [email protected] is the route for anything to do with getting in or registering, and the switchboard is for everything else.
Admissions and student support
Send application and registration queries to [email protected], quoting your application or student number and ID number. Because there is no phone line for admissions, the written record is the only record – keep the thread rather than relying on a call you cannot cite later.
UMP publishes separate contact pages by portfolio – Teaching and Learning; Research, Innovation and Internationalisation; Postgraduate Studies, Engagement and Planning; and Student Life. A postgraduate query goes to the postgraduate portfolio, not to the general applications mailbox, which handles undergraduate admissions traffic.
The university also runs a Student Portal, a Staff Portal, a library service and published campus maps.
Campus and address information
- Mbombela Campus: corner R40 and D725 Roads, Mbombela 1200
- Siyabuswa Campus: Bheki Mfundo Drive, Siyabuswa
The two campuses are far apart, at opposite ends of Mpumalanga. Mbombela is in the east near the Lowveld; Siyabuswa is in the west, in the Nkangala district. They are not a short drive from one another, so confirm which campus a programme, registration session or appointment is on before travelling – the switchboard number is the same for both.
Escalation routes
Take an academic matter to the department and then the relevant portfolio office, keeping your student number and dates. Formal complaints and appeals go to the registrar through the switchboard.
UMP’s whistleblowing hotline is run independently of the university and accepts anonymous reports, which is the point – a report about someone inside UMP does not pass through UMP. It is open to staff, students and outside parties reporting alleged unethical conduct:
- Free call: 0800 111 723
- Email: [email protected]
- SMS: 30916
- Online: thehotline.co.za/report
- Mobile app: Vuvuzela Hotline
- Fax: 0867 261 681
- Post: PO Box 10512, Centurion 0046
Note that 0867 261 681 is a fax, listed among the hotline’s other channels, and the Centurion postal address belongs to the independent hotline operator rather than to UMP – do not send university correspondence there.
Beyond the university, a complaint about a public higher education institution goes to the Department of Higher Education and Training, maladministration to the Public Protector, and an NSFAS funding decision to NSFAS rather than to UMP. A records request is made under UMP’s PAIA manual.
