Spec-Savers is a South African optometry group with stores nationwide and a head office in Gqeberha. The contact details below were read from specsavers.co.za on 2 September 2026.

Official contact channels

The enquiry form asks you to pick a reason first, and the options show how the group splits its work: general, online order, eye tests, hearing tests, medical aids, pricing, spectacles, hearing aids and service. Choosing the right reason routes the message; a general enquiry travels further before it lands.

For anything about your own eyes, prescription or appointment, contact the store rather than head office. Spec-Savers stores are individually operated practices with their own optometrists and their own diaries – head office cannot see your clinical record or move your booking. Use the Find a Store facility for the branch number.

What this organisation provides

Spec-Savers provides eye tests, spectacles, sunglasses and contact lenses, and has a hearing division offering hearing tests and hearing aids. It publishes guides on lens types, eye exams and eye health, and runs an online store with gift cards.

It also operates two account facilities – an Eye Care Account and a Hearing Account – alongside other payment options, and publishes a warranty.

Ask what your medical aid actually covers before the test, not after. Optical benefits are usually capped and often run on a two-year cycle, and the difference between the scheme rate and the practice price is yours to pay. “Medical aids” is a standing option on the enquiry form precisely because this is the recurring question.

Address and operating information

Port Elizabeth is now Gqeberha – Spec-Savers still uses the former name in its published address, so either will find the location. This is a head office, not a practice: there are no eye tests here.

Support and escalation routes

Take a problem with spectacles, a prescription or an appointment to the store first, with the date, the practice name and your prescription or order number. If the store cannot resolve it, raise it with customer care on 0860 766 930 or [email protected], keeping the reference.

You are entitled to a copy of your prescription. It is your clinical record, and having it lets you take it elsewhere – useful if a dispute over lenses or fit is going nowhere.

Beyond the group, the professional conduct of an optometrist or audiologist is a matter for the Health Professions Council of South Africa, which registers both. A dispute over what a scheme paid goes to the Council for Medical Schemes, free of charge. A pricing, warranty or service complaint falls under the Consumer Protection Act and goes to the National Consumer Commission or the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud. An account or credit dispute goes to the National Credit Regulator, and a complaint about your health information to the Information Regulator.
