Midstream Security Contact Details

Midstream Security is not a security company you can hire. It is the in-house security operation of the Midstream estates south of Centurion, and each estate employs its own officers. Contact runs through the estate rather than through a security firm.

• Residents get the control room and gatehouse numbers for their own estate through the resident portal and the Midstream app, not from the public site
• A caution about the numbers in the site footer. The 0800 029 999 hotline and the 0600 123456 WhatsApp line that appear at the bottom of every Midstream page belong to the national COVID-19 service at sacoronavirus.co.za. They are not Midstream security numbers and will not reach the estate

How security is actually run

• Each of the Midstream estates employs its own security officers directly, rather than outsourcing the guarding
• Armed response and tactical support is contracted to Bidvest Coin
• Officers work a bobby-on-the-beat patrol, with the estate stating that every house is passed at least four times a day
• Officers are also trained in basic firefighting
• A 24/7 centralised control room supports biometric access control and a licence plate recognition camera system added in 2017, linked to a database of profiled vehicles

The estates this covers

• Midstream Estate, Midstream Hill, Midstream Ridge, Midstream Meadows, Midstream Heights, Midlands, Midfield and Retire at Midstream
• The perimeter is a 40 km double electric fence with a five-metre patrol zone inside it, shared across the estates
• Because each estate is a separate body, an access or security query is handled by the estate you live in or are visiting, not centrally
• Visitors are processed through biometric access control at the gate, so allow time on a first visit

Getting help and escalating

• In a crime in progress call 10111, and an ambulance on 10177 or 112 from a cellphone. The estate control room is not a substitute for the police
• For a complaint about the conduct of a security officer, the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority is on 086 133 3850. Both the in-house officers and the armed response contractor must be PSiRA registered
• For an estate governance dispute, raise it with the homeowners association of your specific estate in writing
