Absa Warranty Contact Details

Verified 6 September 2026Official source onlyIndependent directoryReport a wrong number

Absa sells two vehicle warranties alongside its car finance, and both are handled on the same line by an outside administrator rather than by the bank. The number is not the Absa switchboard, and phoning the bank about a warranty repair will get you transferred.

Official contact details

The same number and mailbox cover four products: the Mechanical Breakdown Warranty, the Booster Warranty, Tyre and Rim Insurance and Dent and Scratch Insurance. Extended Cover, which is the credit shortfall product, is a different desk on 0860 100 876.

What each warranty covers

  • Mechanical Breakdown Warranty — mechanical and electrical breakdown repair, available for a one-year or two-year term, covering 35 listed components, including towing, and transferable to the buyer if you sell the car.
  • Booster Warranty — additional cover for a specifically listed set of components, plus warranty gap cover, roadside assistance, and five days of car hire per year for a breakdown.

Both are component-listed warranties, not blanket cover. That is the single most common source of a declined claim: the part that failed has to appear on the schedule attached to your agreement, and the schedule is the document to check before you authorise any work.

Getting a claim approved

  • Phone 0861 666 488 before the repairer starts. Authorisation is given per component, and work done without it is normally not paid.
  • Quote the Absa vehicle finance account number. The warranty is registered against the finance agreement, not the registration plate.
  • Ask the administrator to speak to the repairer directly. It is faster than relaying a diagnosis, and it puts the component list in front of the person who can read the schedule.

Who carries the risk

These products are underwritten by Absa Insurance Company Limited, an insurer licensed to conduct non-life insurance business and an authorised financial services provider, FSP 8030, registration number 2000/025898/06. Absa states on its own pages that it works with other companies to deliver them and that some of those use Absa branding — so a call handler answering with a different company name is not necessarily wrong. Ask which entity you are speaking to, and check the underwriter given is FSP 8030 before you agree to anything.

When the warranty is worth using

A warranty repair does not touch your comprehensive insurance and carries no excess in the way a claim does, so it does not affect your no-claim position. That makes it worth checking the schedule for any mechanical or electrical failure, even a small one, before paying for the repair yourself.
