There are two SPAR stores in Belhar, a few minutes apart, and they keep different hours. SPAR publishes both on its own store finder, each with its own number.
SUPERSPAR Belhar
- Telephone: 021 207 1235
- Address: Cavalier Shopping Centre, corner of Modderdam and Robert Sobukwe Road, Belhar
- Monday to Friday and Saturday: 08:00 to 19:00
- Sunday and public holidays: 08:00 to 18:00
SPAR’s own listing spells the road Robert Subukwe. The street is Robert Sobukwe Road, so search for the correct spelling if your navigation app cannot find it.
SPAR Erica, also in Belhar
- Telephone: 021 100 3281
- Email: [email protected]
- Address: Shop 1, Erica Drive, Belhar
- Every day including public holidays: 08:00 to 20:00
The smaller store is the one open later. If it is after 19:00 the SUPERSPAR is shut and Erica is not, which is the practical difference between the two on most evenings.
Why only one of them has an email here
SPAR Erica lists a store mailbox on SPAR’s own retail domain. The SUPERSPAR listing gives an individual’s address on an outside domain rather than a store one, so it is not reproduced here — phone 021 207 1235 and ask for the manager instead.
Each SPAR is independently owned
This matters for anything that goes wrong. A SPAR store is run by its own retailer under the SPAR brand, so prices, stock, staffing and a refund decision are that store’s, not head office’s. Speak to the manager on duty on the day, get their name, and only escalate afterwards.
National routes if the store cannot help
- SPAR Customer Care: 0860 313 141
- SPAR head office: 031 719 1900, 22 Chancery Lane, Pinetown, 3610
- Western Cape distribution centre: 021 690 0000
- The website complaint form asks for the region, the store name and, for a product, the barcode, batch number and best-before date — have the packaging in front of you before you start it.
For a product problem, keep the packaging
The form’s barcode, batch and best-before fields are not optional detail. A complaint about a spoiled or mislabelled product cannot be traced to a supplier without them, and throwing the packet away ends the investigation. Photograph the label, the batch code and the till slip before you discard anything.
If it is still unresolved
- A retail dispute can be taken to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud, free to consumers.
- A food safety concern is separately a matter for the environmental health department of the City of Cape Town, which inspects stores independently of the brand.
- A complaint about how your personal information was handled goes to the Information Regulator, whose address SPAR publishes on its own form.
