Why Polokwane is different
Polokwane sits on the N1 about three hours from Beitbridge and within reach of Groblersbrug. A vehicle taken here can be at an international border before a day is out. Recovery is a race against that, and the race starts when you phone, not when you finish looking for the number.
So the practical advice is different from a metro. Report the road and the direction of travel before anything else — N1 north, R71 towards Tzaneen, R521 towards Alldays. The make and colour of the car matter far less to a recovery team than which corridor it is on.
If you are the one crossing the border

If you have no signal where you have stopped, walk to where you do before you make the call rather than after.

Farms, game and heavy vehicles
