GEHS Enrolment Contact Details
Every public servant who wants to use the Government Employees Housing Scheme (GEHS) has to enrol with it first. That applies to the housing allowance too, and it applies even if you already own your home or pay your bond from your own bank account. This page covers where enrolment happens, who to call when it goes wrong, and how to get the enrolment confirmation that most people search for as the GEHS certificate. The details were read from the GEHS pages on dpsa.gov.za and from the GEHS enrolment website on 14 September 2026.

The address is the part people get wrong. The DPSA notes that the enrolment site is www.gehsenrolment.org and not www.gehs.gov.za. When we checked, gehs.gov.za was not responding at all, so a search result pointing there will not get you enrolled. Enrolment is free; nobody should charge you to do it.
What you need before contacting
Enrolment is open to people employed in the public service in national and provincial departments. Employees living on communal land with a valid permission to occupy enrol the same way as everyone else. To sign up on the enrolment website you will need:
- your South African ID number, or your passport number if you are a foreign national
- your PERSAL (or Persol) number, which also becomes your login name
- your names, surname, a contact number and an email address
- details of your household, finances, where you live now and where you want to live, for the enrolment questions themselves
During sign-up you choose three security questions. Remember the answers: the GEHS call centre uses them to confirm who you are before it will touch your profile.
Step-by-step contact process
- Sign up at www.gehsenrolment.org with the details above, accept the terms and complete the security questions.
- Enrol. The site walks you through personal information, your family, your financial profile, your current home and the housing you want, then shows a summary. The site estimates about 15 minutes.
- Download the confirmation. When enrolment is finished the site shows a completion screen with a download for your enrolment confirmation PDF. This is the document usually called the GEHS enrolment certificate. You can download it again later by logging in with your PERSAL number and password.
- Call 0861 12 34 34 if you are stuck. After confirming your identity with your ID, passport or PERSAL number and your security answers, a call centre agent can reset a forgotten password, change the mobile number on your profile, or help you complete an unfinished enrolment.
Home loan and switching questions are a separate service. The DPSA lists SA Home Loans on 0860 2 4 6 8 10 as the housing finance call centre, and the enrolment site’s loan calculator is not linked to your enrolment.
Escalation route
If the call centre cannot resolve an enrolment problem, write to gehs@dpsa.gov.za. Put your PERSAL number in the subject line, describe the step that fails, and include the date of your call and any reference you were given. An email creates a record that a phone call does not.
Your security answers and login details are for the official enrolment site and the 0861 12 34 34 call centre only. If someone contacts you offering guaranteed housing allowance approval or asks for a fee to enrol you, that is not the GEHS. Report fraud or corruption in the public service to the National Anti-Corruption Hotline on 0800 701 701.
