Services at this location
First Home Finance is for households earning R3 501 to R22 000 per month who have never owned a home or received a government housing subsidy. The subsidy ranges from R27 960 up to R121 626 depending on monthly income, and it does not have to be repaid.
- You need a home loan approval or approval in principle from an accredited lender. The subsidy cannot be used without a mortgage.
- You can use it to buy an existing house, to build on your own serviced stand with an NHBRC-registered builder, or to pay house-buying costs such as conveyancing fees, a deposit or the NHBRC enrolment fee.
- Full applications take 21 working days to process after submission.
How to apply:
- Optional: check whether you have received a government housing subsidy before, using “Check Eligibility” on fhf.nhfc.co.za. No registration is needed.
- Register on fhf.nhfc.co.za, log in with the One-Time-Pin and apply for pre-approval. Return the next day for the outcome.
- Complete the full application, upload your ID or smart card, birth certificates, marriage, divorce or customary-union documents and proof of income, then submit.
