BMW Group runs its South African vehicle plant at Rosslyn, north of Pretoria. There is no telephone number or email address for jobs at the plant. Recruitment runs entirely through the BMW Group careers portal, and that is deliberate rather than an oversight.

Eligibility, account or policy requirements
- Apply through the portal with a complete profile; incomplete applications are not pursued by phone
- School leaver programmes publish minimum subject requirements, typically including Grade 12 with mathematics and English
- You will need identity documents and certified qualifications at a later stage, not at first application
- BMW does not charge any fee to apply, to be shortlisted, or to attend an interview
- No legitimate employer asks for money for training materials, uniforms, medicals or a placement
That last point is the one that matters most. Recruitment scams using the BMW Rosslyn name circulate widely in South Africa, usually by WhatsApp or SMS, and the tell is always the same: a request for payment, or a demand for your bank details before any interview.
Escalation route
- Application status: check the portal profile rather than phoning the plant
- A suspected fake job advert or fraudulent recruiter should be reported to the South African Police Service
- Identity theft after handing over documents can be registered with the Southern African Fraud Prevention Service
- If you paid money to a fraudulent recruiter, tell your bank immediately as well as the police
- Unfair treatment in a recruitment process can be taken to the CCMA, though applicants have narrower rights than employees
- Misuse of personal information supplied in an application is a POPIA matter for the Information Regulator
Keep a record of where you applied and when. If an approach arrives claiming to follow up on an application you never made through the portal, that mismatch is itself the evidence that it is not BMW.
