Toyota publishes no telephone number and no email address for HR at its Prospecton plant, and there is no separate plant personnel office to call. Recruitment for the Durban manufacturing plant runs entirely through one national careers portal, and applying there is the only route in. Anyone offering you another one is not describing how Toyota hires.

Task scope

This covers applying for work at the Toyota manufacturing plant at Prospecton in Durban, and the categories Toyota South Africa Motors recruits into. It does not cover vehicle, service or warranty queries, which go to customer care. It also does not cover jobs at a Toyota dealership: a franchised dealer is a separate business from Toyota South Africa Motors and advertises its own vacancies independently of this portal.

Route

No HR telephone number and no recruitment mailbox appear anywhere on the careers portal. The customer care numbers above are published for vehicle and service matters and will not reach recruitment, so treat them as a last resort for reaching the company rather than as a way to chase an application.

One thing to watch when copying numbers off the Toyota contact page. The lines are grouped by country, and the Namibian entry sits directly beneath the South African one: Namibia is +264 83 380 0174 toll free or +27 11 799 1640, and Botswana, Eswatini and Lesotho share +27 11 799 1655. Only the two 0800 numbers are South African.

Requirements

Which category you fall into decides the process, and Toyota advertises across five of them:

Prospecton is the manufacturing plant, so production and technical vacancies there are advertised under the semi skilled and development categories rather than among professional roles. Toyota runs two other South African sites on the same portal, Sales and Marketing at head office in Sandton and a Parts Distribution Centre on Atlas Road in Kempton Park, and vacancies for all three appear in one list. Filter by province and choose KwaZulu-Natal, or you will spend the afternoon reading Gauteng adverts.

Steps

Escalation

There is no published escalation route for a recruitment matter, for the simple reason that there is no published HR contact to escalate from. The portal profile and the application reference are the whole record, which is why keeping them matters more here than it would at a company with a recruitment mailbox.

That absence is worth naming plainly, because it is exactly what recruitment scams exploit. Toyota advertises its vacancies on jobs.toyota.co.za. A request for money in exchange for a job, an interview, a uniform, training or a placement at the plant is not part of any legitimate Toyota process, and neither is an offer made from a personal email account or over a messaging app by someone claiming to work in plant HR. If an approach did not start with an advert on the portal, treat it as false.

Where the matter concerns someone already employed rather than an applicant, it is a labour matter rather than a recruitment one, and the statutory route in South Africa is the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration rather than any Toyota line.
