Use the right Aloan mailbox
Three mailboxes for one small lender is unusual, and the split is deliberate.
- debtreview@aloan.co.za is the one that matters most. Debt review is a formal process under the National Credit Act, and correspondence about it is handled on a different track from an ordinary account query. Sending a debt review notice to customer service usually means it has to be forwarded, which costs days you may not have.
- complaints@aloan.co.za is for a dispute about how your account or application was handled.
- contact@aloan.co.za is everything else, including application questions, balances and settlement figures.
Because there is only one phone line, email is the more reliable channel here. Keep the thread rather than starting a new message each time, so the history stays attached.
Who Aloan actually is
Aloan is a brand name, not the company name. The site’s own footer names the operator.
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Operating company | Alpha Fintech (Pty) Ltd |
| Company registration | 2020/212017/07 |
| Credit provider registration | NCRCP13387 |
This matters when you are checking whether you are dealing with the real thing. A message claiming to be from Aloan should trace back to Alpha Fintech (Pty) Ltd, and a registered credit provider’s number can be checked against the National Credit Regulator’s public register of credit providers. The same company name appears as the developer on both of Aloan’s app store listings, which is a useful cross-check that the apps are genuinely theirs.
Aloan’s WhatsApp number is not shown
Aloan’s site carries a WhatsApp button, but it uses a WhatsApp short link rather than a phone number. The number behind it is never shown on the page.
The practical consequence: you cannot save an Aloan WhatsApp contact in advance, and you cannot verify an incoming WhatsApp message by matching it against a published number. Start the WhatsApp conversation from the button on aloan.co.za, and treat an unsolicited WhatsApp claiming to be Aloan with caution, because there is no published number to check it against.
The Aloan apps, and a broken link on their own site
Aloan runs the loan account through an app, so the app is effectively a contact channel too. Repayment, early settlement and your credit limit are all handled there.
There is one thing to watch for. The site offers two different Android links, and they do not point at the same app. The Google Play link resolves to a live listing published by Alpha Fintech (Pty) Ltd. The separate app-market link on the same page points at a different package identifier, and that one returns a not-found error on Google Play when we checked it.
So use the Google Play link, or search Google Play for Aloan and confirm the developer shows as Alpha Fintech (Pty) Ltd before installing. On iOS, the App Store listing is Aloan App, also published by Alpha Fintech (Pty) Ltd.
Aloan’s terms and privacy documents are also hosted on a separate domain from the main site. That is their own arrangement rather than a sign of a problem, but it is worth knowing so the change of address does not surprise you.
What Aloan offers, and what you need
Aloan advertises unsecured personal loans of up to R8,000, applied for entirely online, with funds paid out within one working day of approval.
To apply you need to be over 20, and to supply an SA ID number, bank account details and your most recent proof of income.
Repayment is by debit order on a due date you choose, and Aloan says interest is counted daily, so settling early reduces the cost. Early settlement is done through the Repay function in the app; when that option is not showing, it means the due date is close enough that the debit order has already been arranged with your bank.
Aloan states its charges consist of an initiation fee, a service fee and interest, set under Chapter 5 of the National Credit Act 34 of 2005. Ask for the full cost of credit in writing before you accept, and use contact@aloan.co.za so you have it on record.
