Transnet Pension Fund Contact Details

Verified 24 September 2026Updated 5 October 2026Official source onlyIndependent directoryPublished by Silas T Nkoana, Cape TownReport a wrong number

Transnet publishes no telephone number for its pension fund. We searched its corporate site and tested the obvious fund web addresses on 24 September 2026 and found no pension fund contact page and no working fund website. The only official Transnet route is head office on 011 308 3000 and enquiries@transnet.net.

What was checked

Rather than repeat numbers from directory sites, the sources themselves were tested.

  • transnet.net, the corporate site, which carries a Contact Us block with the head office number, email and address. It contains no pension page, no pensioner section and no reference to a pension fund anywhere in its navigation.
  • The obvious pension web addresses, including transnetpensionfund.co.za, transnetpensionfund.org.za, transnetpension.co.za and transnetretirementfund.co.za. None of them exists.
  • Pension paths on Transnet’s own site, which return 404 errors.

No pension fund number is published here, because there is no official source to read one from. An unverified number for a pension fund is worse than none, since it is exactly what impersonation relies on.

tpf.co.za is a domain for sale

This one deserves a warning. The address tpf.co.za, which looks like an abbreviation of Transnet Pension Fund, is not connected to Transnet at all.

It is a parked page advertising the domain for sale through a registrar in Phoenix, Arizona, with an asking price and a make-an-offer form. There is no fund behind it and no contact details on it.

A short domain like that, matching a well known fund’s initials, is a standing risk. If it is bought by someone else tomorrow, it could carry anything. Do not enter personal or banking details on it.

Freight numbers are not pension numbers

Transnet’s freight and customer service lines surface often in connection with pension queries, because those are the numbers Transnet publishes most widely.

Those desks handle cargo, rail and port matters. They hold no pension records, cannot see your benefit, and cannot tell you why a payment has not arrived. Calling one about a pension means being transferred or asked to call back.

If you have to phone, use head office on 011 308 3000 and ask to be directed to the pension fund administration, saying whether you are a pensioner, a beneficiary or a former employee.

Your own paperwork is the better route

For a pension, the documents you already hold are more reliable than anything a general look-up will give you.

Find your most recent benefit statement, annual statement or any letter about the fund. The sender on that letter is the current administrator, and the reference on it is what identifies your record. Funds are often administered by a third party rather than by the employer, and the administrator can change.

Your payslip or bank statement showing the pension deposit also names the paying entity, which is a useful starting point.

If you worked for Transnet, the human resources records of your former division may be able to point you at the right fund administration.

Reporting fraud or corruption

Transnet publishes a whistleblowing route with several channels: a toll free line on 0800 003 056, an SMS number 063 786 7403, and a Please Call Me or USSD string *120*0637867403#.

The email address Transnet gives for this is Transnet.Reportit@outlook.com. Note that it is a free webmail address rather than one on transnet.net. It is what Transnet publishes on its own site, so it is the official route, but the phone and SMS channels are the more clearly attributable ones.

If someone contacts you about your pension

Pensioners are a targeted group, and a fund with no visible public contact page makes that easier for the people doing the targeting.

No legitimate fund asks you to pay a fee to release your own money, and none needs your banking PIN or a one-time password. A request to change the bank account a pension is paid into should only ever go through a channel you initiated, never one that phoned you.

If you are unsure, end the call and phone back on a number from your own paperwork or from transnet.net.

Before you call

Have your identity number, your former employee or personnel number if you have it, and the dates you worked for Transnet or its predecessors.

Have any fund reference number from a statement or letter.

Transnet publishes no operating hours, so treat 011 308 3000 as a weekday business-hours switchboard.
