Capitec Credit Facility Contact Details
A credit facility is not the same as a loan, and the difference affects what you repay. To report fraud, Capitec is 0860 10 20 43 or WhatsApp 067 418 9565.
ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory and is not Capitec.
Facility against loan
- A loan is a fixed amount advanced once and repaid over a set term in set instalments. You know the end date at the start.
- A credit facility is a limit you can draw against repeatedly, more like an overdraft. Interest is charged on what you have drawn, and the balance can persist indefinitely if you keep using it.
- A facility has no natural end. Minimum repayments can service the interest while barely reducing the capital, which is how a facility becomes permanent debt.
Ask what the minimum repayment actually covers. If it is mostly interest and fees, the balance is not going anywhere.
What the law requires of the lender
Under the National Credit Act, a registered credit provider must assess affordability before granting or increasing credit. Lending without that assessment is reckless credit and is unlawful.
Two things follow. An offer of credit with no paperwork and guaranteed approval is not a legitimate lender. And a limit increase you did not ask for still needs your consent, so check statements for increases you never agreed to.
You are entitled to one free credit report a year from each registered bureau. If you do not know what you owe, that is where to start.
