What Addo Elephant National Park offers
SANParks describes Addo as South Africa’s third-largest national park and home to the Big 7, which includes the southern right whale and great white shark in its marine area. The park’s camps are:
- Addo Rest Camp
- Langebos Huts
- Matyholweni Rest Camp
- Nyathi Rest Camp
- Spekboom Tented Rest Camp
Nyathi Rest Camp is closed for all bookings from 1 September 2026 to 31 March 2027 for renovations, and is scheduled to reopen for bookings in April 2027.
Address and operating information
Main Camp Reception is open from 07:00 to 19:00. Matyholweni Reception is open from 07:00 to 17:00, and the Matyholweni gate stays open until 18:30.
Entry and exit times differ by gate: most are 07:00 to 19:00 and some close at 18:30. SANParks lists them on its Entrance Gates page and asks visitors to confirm with the park before arrival. Gates are staffed by security after closing, and guests with accommodation bookings may enter or leave after closing if they inform reception.
