AEG appliances in South Africa are handled by a local operation that publishes a single national number for everything, from buying advice to repairs. There is no separate service line.
Official contact channels
- Telephone: 087 821 8833
- Email: [email protected]
- Enquiry form on the contact page at aeg.co.za/contact
- Store locator and product warranty pages on aeg.co.za
The 087 number is non geographic, so it costs the same to dial from anywhere in the country and tells you nothing about where the office is. Because one number covers sales, warranty, repairs and spares, say at the outset which of those you need so the call is routed once rather than twice.
What this organisation provides
The published range covers cooking appliances including ovens, stoves, hobs and extractor hoods, cooling appliances including freezers, upright fridges and fridge freezers, laundry appliances including washing machines, tumble dryers and washer dryers, and dishwashers.
Two things about servicing are set out in the company own answers. Repairs are carried out by qualified factory technicians arranged through the contact route above rather than by any independent repairer, and spare parts are not sold directly to the public but purchased from an AEG specialist retailer. Using an unapproved repairer is the usual way people lose a warranty, so arrange the repair through AEG rather than locally.
Address and operating information
No walk in address is published for customers. Retailers are found through the store locator, which works on postal code rather than on town name. Note the ownership structure: AEG is a registered trademark used under licence from AB Electrolux, so the South African operation is a licensee of the brand rather than the brand owner itself, which is why warranty terms are set locally.
Support and escalation routes
For a fault, phone the support number and have the model and serial number from the appliance rating plate ready, because the warranty position depends on the exact model and date of purchase. If it is unresolved, a dispute about goods or a repair goes to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud on 0860 000 272, with the National Consumer Commission above it.
One right is worth knowing before you accept a repair quote. The Consumer Protection Act gives an implied warranty of six months on goods, and a further three month warranty on repair work itself, and those run independently of whatever manufacturer warranty came with the appliance. A repair that fails within three months is therefore a claim against the repairer regardless of the age of the machine.
